On this intense safari, you will take three days in which to discover some of Tanzania’s northern ‘gems.’ Tarangire will be your first stop after leaving Moshi, a huge, diverse park with large herd of elephants and iconic baobab trees. Next up comes Lake Manyara National Park with its varied landscapes and colorful birdlife, before you continue to the famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area with its incomparable crater. Wildlife and birdlife abound in all of these places…but the incredible settings are also awe-inspiring in themselves.

In the morning after breakfast (around 6:00 a.m.) your driver-guide will arrive at the hotel and inform the receptionist that he is waiting for you. After meeting up with your driver you will travel to Tarangire National Park, and by 10:00 a.m. you will already be on your first safari! Tarangire is huge. As you stand at the park gate and look south, it stretches as far as the eye can see. Known as the ‘Elephant Playground,’ this spectacular park contains largest population of these mighty mammals. But Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, gnu, zebra and gazelle and the park can rival Serengeti for sheer animal densities. What might you see today? Perhaps a solitary male lion stretched out beneath a tree, perhaps a trio of male cheetah enjoying some lazy bonding-time in the sun. Maybe some graceful Grant’s gazelle or zebra bounding away from the road or a couple of giraffes munching happily from the choicest acacia branches. For Tarangire specialties, look out for kudu and oryx.
A nice early start then a drive pass the Rift Valley (Africa’s graben fault) up to the cooler regions of the crater uplands. The Ngorongoro Crater is almost 600m deep and in this massive caldera you will find an amazing variety of animals. Alongside the “big five” (elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards and rhinoceros) you will find virtually all of the animals that can be found on the entire east african savanna.
After a short briefing in the morning, you set off to the Lake Manyara National Park. The small park stretches along the 600 m high Rift Valley Escarpment and is dominated by the alkaline Lake Manyara. It is here where thousands of flamingos seem to colour the shallow waters pink. Many water birds gather at the lake and more than 400 bird species are found in the park. The diverse vegetation provides a habitat for many animals such as monkeys in the forest, giraffes and antelopes on the grasslands and elephants around the acacia trees. If you are very lucky you might also see the Manyara lions, lounging in the trees. In the late afternoon you will leave the Lake Manyara National Park and head to Arusha for and then continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
I had an amazing 6 days trip and would definitely recommend this tour company to anyone traveling to Tanzania who wants to see serengeti animals and climb Mount Kilimanjaro. We learnt about Tanzania Hakuna Mtaka.
We had an amazing experience with Mkalibala Adventures with Onesmo our guide. He was very knowledgeable and all of his ideas and guidance made the trip even better. When I return I will not hesitate to book again.
The 8 days mount Kilimanjaro climbing tour covered everything you wanted to see and do while on Kilimanjaro and on the mountain route. The accommodation during my trip was lovely and well located.
I am very happy with the service they provided me, I did not expect the trip to be good and interesting. Your guide is very good and has helped make our tour a great success.
Highly recomended!
The guides were absolutely amazing! Everything was so well organized than expected. Our guide Onesmo was exceptional and fun, we sang and danced together. I will definitely request him if possible.
